HORSE RIDING (No longer available)

Horse riding at award-winning Tassiriki Ranch is a comfortable day trip from Byron Bay and the Gold Coast and a great excuse for an overnight getaway from Brisbane. We offer a variety of accredited horse riding activities suitable for nervous beginners through to intermediate riders. Our activities include safe guided beach trail rides for couples, families and small groups of friends, horse awareness and riding lessons for both adults and kids, as well as safe led pony rides for younger children. You don't have to be staying at Tassiriki Ranch to participate in these horse riding activities, however, advance bookings are essential.

BOUTIQUE HORSE RIDING ON THE BEACH (No longer available) 

Don't waste your time looking elsewhere, you've just found the only weekend beach trail rides operating between Port Macquarie and Noosa Heads!

Experience the pristine natural beauty of South Ballina Beach on a guided beach trail ride.

Prior to commencing your trail ride your Trail Guides will match your riding ability with one of our well-educated trail riding horses. You will mount your horse in a secure fenced area and your guide will adjust the saddle for a perfect fit. Your guide will then brief you on horse control and the safety aspects of the ride. Then it's off to the beach!

Your trail ride leaves directly from the property passing through the cane fields and the coastal forest and down onto the beach. The ride then proceeds along the beach at a leisurely pace offering the opportunity to keep an eye out for dolphins surfing the waves or even whales splashing and spouting just off-shore (July-November). During the ride you will have the opportunity to walk your horse into shallow pools along the shoreline and ride your horse along this beautiful beach.

Our beach rides operate 7 days per week according to customer demand. Actual ride times will vary with the timing of low tide events in consideration of the threatened Pied Oystercatcher birds nesting on the beach.

BEACH TRAIL RIDING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Beach trail rides are available 7 days a week subject to beach conditions and the weather. Bookings are essential and we require a 50% deposit to confirm all horse riding bookings.

We want you to enjoy your ride and your safety is very important to us. We provide each rider with a safety helmet and riding boots. For the safety of everyone on the ride safe we have several conditions:

  • All rides are conducted at the level of least experienced rider in the group. Group rides are conducted at a walk or a trot depending upon the ability of the riders.
  • Prior to leaving the saddling area riders MUST demonstrate an ability to independantly mount, dismount, and control their horse.
  • All riders MUST sign an Application to Ride. Riders under 18 years MUST have a parent/guardian sign the application.
  • All riders MUST wear long pants.
  • Maximum weight is 95kg.
  • Minimum age is 10 years. Children under 16 years MUST be accompanied on the ride by a parent or guardian.
  • Uncontrolled riding is NOT permitted.
  • Should you arrive late for your beach ride we may be forced to reduce the duration of your beach ride so following groups are not impacted.
  • Rides will commence unless there's a downpour or storm. Once rides begin we continue at rider(s) or guide’s option. Sorry, no refunds for poor weather rides.

What to wear & bring with you for our beach rides.

  • We will provide you with a helmet and riding boots. Bring long pants and socks.
  • We recommend you apply sunscreen and wear sunglasses as exposure to sun can be a concern.
  • If the weather is cold or threatening to rain please bring appropriate clothing which we can tie onto saddles if not needed. We do not supply rain gear. You may want to bring a change of clothes and beach towel in case you get wet.
  • Loose jewellery which may become tangled in the reins should be left in your vehicle or at home.
  • Cameras should be safely secured in some type of waist bag.

HORSE RIDING LESSONS

Our accredited riding instructors are now available for horseriding lessons. These lessons, suitable for adults and children over 7 years of age, are conducted in a 16 metre round-yard for beginners or a 20m x 60m grass arena for the more advanced students.

We provide helmets & riding boots and a suitable horse. Lessons last one hour and cover aspects of horse care and grooming, horse awareness & safety, and riding technique. Check out our rates...

Tassiriki Ranch is an accredited member of the Australian Horse Riding Centres (AHRC) association whose objective is to raise the standard of horse riding centres in Australia by setting high standards for facilities, instruction, horse welfare, supervision and safety. Our accreditation gives you an assurance you will be riding well-cared for horses at a clean and properly-run premises
